This game is a version of the classic card game “Go Fish”, in which students have to find two identical cards and get as many pairs as possible.

The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled then dealt so that each student has five cards (seven in small groups and three in larger groups). The rest of the cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table.

Students take turns to play the game. One by one, each student asks another classmate if he/she has a particular type of card asking the question written on the card (e.g. Have you got the mistletoe?). If that person has the same card, he/she has to say the corresponding short answer (e.g. Yes, I have.) and give it to the student who has asked the question.  In case, he/she doesn’t have that card,  he/she will say “Go Fish” and the student who has asked the question will have to take one card from the pile.

The game continues until all the cards are given, and the student with more pairs at the end will be the winner.
